Our life in Italy
August 22, 2008
I moved out to Italy 5 years ago. This is my blog of living here and my experiences with Italians and their famous bureaucracy. We’ve had our share of problems along the way. For example:
- Problems with the neighbours in our semi-detached
- Having the builder walk out (about to go bankrupt) on our new house
- The manager we left behind to run our company helping himself to our cash and losing our clients
- Scoliosis (my wife) and lymphedema (me)
- My problems with the Italian language
- Bureaucracy, redtape and more bureaucracy
- Getting caught with the Italian property tax
… and more.
That said, it’s also a (hopefully) humorous view of life here with the occasional rant about the hyped Italian food and the infamous (but non-existent) ‘Dolce Vita’.
The house we now live in is our dream home although it still needs some work doing to it. There is no way that if I was still in the UK, we could have afforded a 3-storey detached home set on a hill with over 20 acres of woodland, orchards and fields with views across to a national park.
The idea of this blog is to provide a background to our main website – www.italyhouse.co.uk
I hope you enjoy reading this blog and that you will choose to visit again.
