Grape juice

After making grape jam, and quantities of delicious but very crumbly grape cake that entailed de-pipping each grape individually, we were left with 3 containers brimful of grapes and very little time to use them. Plus the picked peaches were demanding attention.

Heating the grapes

So we stripped the grapes off their stalks into a wok, heated them stirring all the while, then squeezed and mashed them through gauze.

The result was just over a litre and a half of pure red grape juice with nothing added, not even sugar as it is very sweet.

We drank a little straight away and froze the rest to have in winter, when we will need all its antioxidant goodness.
