Home > Gardening > Canker

Another apple tree with a problem. This time I have to cut off nearly a whole branch (the lowest one on the left) – quite a large proportion of the tree.

The canker has eaten really deep and yet the twigs further along the branch look perfectly healthy.

Apparently the tree gets sicker and sicker if radical action isn’t taken.

It’s a shame to ruin the balance of such a pretty tree, but then again it’s never given us any mature fruit and this might be the reason.
