Apricot flowers revisited

I noticed today that the apricot tree which flowered first was a strange dark orangey colour. It couldn’t be that it had all shrivelled up, could it?

I went to see. The white petals had gone leaving the red sepals. At the risk of seeming obsessed by apricot blossom, I took a photo.

On this apricot tree the flowers are over

Then, by way of contrast, I took another one of the tree that has been lagging behind.

The 'late' apricot tree is like the 'early' tree was just over a week ago
