Santa Rosa plums

Nearly-ripe Santa Rosa plums

Despite the name, the Santa Rosa plum tree is in fact a Japanese plum tree.

The fruit has sweet, red flesh which clings tightly to the stone.

The plums in the picture are still hard, and not quite ripe, though they will be very soon. The photo is representative of the whole tree which is heavily laden this year.

Strangely, our other Santa Rosa plum tree has very little fruit, and all of it fairly small in comparison.
