More water means less water

An unpredictable sight

The natural and expected aftermath to a deluge is … a water cut!

That’s what we had today. Luckily it was over after only a few hours. Tomorrow being ‘Ferragosto’, the national holiday on which the whole of Italy stops, I was envisaging us being without water for 36 hours or more.

This was  a fear encouraged by the man I spoke to at the Water Board when I first noticed the water was off.

“It’s a complete disaster,” he said. “All the pipes are broken.”

As it turns out, he was over-pessimistic. But I shouldn’t rejoice too loudly. We might yet have another water cut.

Now here we are luckier than you as we have our own well and our own water supply. Enjoy the holiday and hope you don’t get any further cuts.

A well would certainly be handy. We have our own spring but it’s almost completely dried up.
