Season of mists

Lakes of mist

We got up a little earlier than usual today so the morning mist was still there when I went outside.

It was dense in the bottom of the valley and wispy over the slopes that rise out of  it.

It always makes me think of Scottish lochs, or a Chinese painting of impossible mountains and distorted aerial perspective.

We were lucky to be above it, in sunshine, but I knew it had been there earlier because there was a film of tiny beads of moisture on the roses.
