Monte Cucco

North and a tiny bit East from where we are, poking up inside a ‘v’ of mountain slopes, is something white.

It’s in fact Monte Cucco, altitude about 1,500 metres.

Although it’s a long way away, it’s quite distinctive because of its winter whiteness, unlike nearby Monte Subasio (altitude about 1,300 metres) which either has just a white cap and white veins, or a dusting of white.

I don’t think Monte Cucco is totally snow-covered; it’s a trick of the light. But it’s still quite a dramatic sight.
