Fire in the pool

In the net, still looking rather limp

These fiery little moths fall quite commonly into the swimming pool.

Luckily I was on hand to fish this one out in time.

I’d always called them Cinnabar Moths before, but now I think they’re Scarlet Tiger Moths.

It’s a lovely name, Scarlet Tiger. It sounds as though it ought to refer to an exclusive retailer of oriental antiques!

Almost fully recovered on the pool rim

On the pool side, almost fully recovered

I looked up the luna moth – it certainly is absolutely stunning. But even very small, drab moths can have lovely patterns on them.
