Winter interest

Abelia grandiflora

Abelia grandiflora

This is a sprig of Abelia Grandiflora that I photographed this morning because it looked so beautiful in the sunshine.

Even though we planted it seven years or so ago, I didn’t in fact know the name of the shrub till this evening, when I looked it up on the internet.

It’s in flower all year so doesn’t change much, which is probably why I’ve overlooked it.

Being a ‘winter interest’ shrub  would, for me, be no recommendation because I’ve always thought the description means – boring generally but marginally less boring in winter by comparison.

I think I changed my mind today, though.
