This is a very small variety of Herb Robert.

It grows everywhere – in the gravel, under the oak, creeping into all the flowerbeds.

Its bitter smell, which is described on the internet as ‘disagreeable and mousy’, I recognise as being the signature scent of an English wood in spring.
