Figs ripe for the picking

Figs ripe for the picking

I wouldn’t say it’s exactly a ‘fig’ year but there are certainly plenty of figs on one lovely old tree in particular.

It’s not an easy task picking them because the tree is very wide and tall and grows at the foot of a steep slope.

The slope does bring some of the figs within fairly easy reach, though.

They are good – very light-tasting and not at all cloying.

I’ve had a fig tree for 4 years. Not one fig ever. Think I’ve tried everything. Can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong.

Is your fig tree just 4 years old? It could have something to do with its youth. Some fig trees don’t fruit until they’re 6 years old.

Really? I did not know that. Yes, definitely four, maybe five. I will be bringing it inside in a few weeks. I’ll nurture it another season. 🙂

I hope it fruits in a year or so!
