Reptile recovery time

Frozen in position

Frozen still

This morning I found a lizard in a tub of water.

Its head was just above the surface and touching the side, but it was obviously unable to get out.

I lifted it onto the rim thinking it would scramble away.

But it didn’t. It stayed where I’d put it long enough for me to fetch my camera, and then until I’d finished what I was doing there.

I guess it was numb from the cold water and needed to warm up a bit.

He wasn’t there when I went back much later, so I guess so!
