Best of friends

Galileo isn’t a puppy any more – he’s three and a half. But he sure does act like one.

He and Florence have a wonderful time.

Is she her daughter?

Galileo has come home and after a very thorough and joyful tour of every nook and cranny in the house and near part of the garden, has settled down.

He’s on his blanket under my desk at the moment.

He’s been avidly remaking the acquaintance of Joules as these photos show.

They really do look very alike.

Like father like son!

Two generations!

A tolerant Joules

A tolerant Joules

When Joules was small, he had the same sort of resemblance to the older and darker of our two neutered male golden retrievers, with whom he was great friends.

We had a lot of fun out of the innocent but (to us) silly questions inspired by that resemblance.

“Is she her daughter?” was one of them.

Not long to be with us

Kepler willing me to try to take his bread away

Kepler challenging me to take his bread away

This morning I had a phonecall from the lady who signed Kepler over to us a year ago last October.

She’s found a home for him, with a friend of hers who has a house and large fenced garden and 5 other dogs, not to mention 2 cats and some miniature pigs.

Some of the dogs are elderly – I dare say Kepler will liven them up.

He’ll spend a few days in the kennels to create a break between his old life and his new, so neither party is likely to see the premises of the other.

He only has a few more days with us.

He’s under my desk now, but only after an absence today of over 10 hours. I wonder if he’ll miss me as much as I’ll miss him.

Dustmen

Kepler investigating the emptied ‘Plastic’ bin

This morning I was well organised and had the dogs indoors when the dustmen came.

It’s a shame in a way because if I go out to call the dogs in, I may have a bit of conversation with the dustmen.

One of them tells me that his friend Gianluca, who laid our upstairs tiles, says ‘Hi’.

The other one kisses me on both cheeks, asks me if I’m married – I’ve answered him several times now – and calls me his princess.

Some princess I look in my dressing gown!

He means nothing by it (and Clive has no need to feel threatened), but it’s a little morning morale-booster all the same.

30 ‘Likes’ on Facebook

October 20, 2012 5 comments

This is a screen capture of the Facebook page which links with this blog, with an arrow pointing at the number of ‘likes’.

Last night, after being stuck for ages on 24, the number shot to 30 and now 33.

This was achieved ‘with a little help from my friends’, organized by Clive.

I’m very pleased. It’s allowed me to take the url of ‘facebook.com/livinginitaly’ and given me access to various goodies like statistics.

A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who’s given me a ‘like’ and please keep up the good work! New friends are always welcome.
