Nature red in tooth and claw
I’m not sure how much Kepler can be classed as ‘nature’ but his lizard-hunts in the lavender bushes bore fruit today.
There was a ‘komodo dragon’ (big green lizard) thrashing around in his jaws. When I took him by the collar, he dropped it.
It scuttled away and after shutting Kepler indoors, I found it sheltering by a strawberry plant.
It’s obviously badly wounded so (having decided not to despatch it just in case it made a miraculous recovery) I covered it tenderly with some leaves and left it to it.
When I looked later it had gone. I hope it either dies quickly or mends fully.
